Fighting for Survival: A Mother’s Fight to Heal
I am fighting for my own life and for the lives of my two daughters after years of hidden, devastating medical crises. I am turning to the kindness of others because I have exhausted every other option.
As a child, I endured abuse that destroyed both of my jaw joints. Today my jaw is stuck open, my teeth no longer meet, and I struggle to keep food in my mouth when I eat. A TMJ specialist has confirmed that I have no jaw joints left and warned that without complex reconstructive surgery, I will destroy my remaining teeth and be unable to maintain adequate nutrition. The only surgeon able to repair this is 170 miles away, and none of the surgery, travel, or follow-up care is covered by insurance.
At the same time, my two daughters and I are battling the long-term effects of seven years of exposure to highly toxic mold in our former home. Although the house has been remediated, our bodies remain burdened with dangerously high levels of toxins. We have tried everything conventional medicine can offer, but the detoxification treatments that offer us our best hope are not recognized or covered by insurance. Every treatment, every visit, and years of medical bills fall entirely on me.
